I haven't been (yet) - so can't recommend anything - but while you're waiting for someone to give some specifics - here's a link to all the Bangkok Blogs Reply to this

Ohh how I long to be back in Bangkok. Once you get there, tell the taxi, Kow Saun Road ( exactly how I spelt it) THIS is where alot of the tourists go, but the majority of them are backpackers, looking for a deal. The cheapest places to stay are on the streets parallel to the street. The night life is fun here, with a few bars, and taxis everywhere if your looking to go somewhere else. Reply to this

do a cycling tour with Amazing Bangkok Cyclists (ABC) - you'll have to do a google search for them. Bit expensive but really great experience - you'll go where few expats, let alone tourists, go.

Walk through Chinatown and Little India - crazy!

Jom thompson's house is touristy but very nice and fairly quiet.

Go on one of the canal taxis.

Check out the park on Phra Aathit, next to Fort Sumen, especially at night if you like break-dancing.

Go to Lettuce Farm Palace, near Phaya Thai station (though I must admit to not yet having been there but have heard excellent reports).

Hang out at one of the bars at Chatuchak Market after 6pm with cool young Thais.

Check out one of the burbs on a Sunday afternoon - you'll see a whole new side of Bangkok that you couldn't even dream of, while hanging out on Khao Sanh. Suggested itinerary: go to Ari sky train station, walk down Soi Ari, have a drink at Reflections restaurant (don't eat there though - food is pretty mediocre), eat at Bangkok Som Tamon Ari Soi 3, and then walk down the end of Soi Ari, past all the government buildings, through the sort of park-y bit, and onto the Sois of Thanon Phibun Wittana, check out the nice streets, the trees, the dogs running around, people washing their cars, kids playing on the street - it's a nice change from the usual hustle of Bangers. If you want a massage, go to the place which is opposite Ari Soi 4 - there's a big reflexology sign there. Reply to this

I suggest you go see a 'lady-boy' show (Well that's what my Thai tour guide calls it). It's a drag show which is supposedly quite popular and common.

Chatuchak Market is pretty good as well
