Hello travellers,
As travellers I am sure you have at some point wonder why do you travel, and what motivates others to travel. This is the topic of my thesis - "differences of travel motivation among different cultures". For this I am conducting a survey of what motivates people to travel. Please help me gather data by filling out the survey -

Travel motivation survey -- there was a slight bug with the response box earlier today but it has been resolved. ;-)
Reply to this Thank you. The survey is completely academic and conducted by me directly. It is part of my academic thesis, so asking questions directly here will not work. I will be sharing my findings, and I believe people in the community will find it interesting.

We travel because we want to spend some time with our loved ones. Traveling creates meaningful relationships also we can add some adventure to our busy schedule.

I do not take a phone or an iPad or anything that connects me with my work, my private world, home...not with anyone but my wife Denise...and anyone else that may be with us.
Our path is then before us...planned or unplanned...for only us to tread...to have our own unique experiences...among places so different to our home...among vistas and peoples that embrace our imagination...who we accept as they are...as they also accept us as we are...no looking down on others when we travel.
Exhilarating is the journey...when optimism is our leader...and serendipity the path by which we are led.

Reply to this I personally love to explore new things and it's a way for me to learn to embrace diversity in life. I believe that in order to spread the love and beauty of different cultures, I personally have to experience it first. Of course, meeting travellers from different countries is definitely one of the best experiences too!
Reply to this I guess the main reasons I travel are because of the freedom I feel when I'm on the road. Also I learn many things about other cultures and history. And about myself.
And if I was to think about this on an even deeper level, I'd say that this is an incredible planet with amazing things on it and it'd be a shame not to see at least a small slice of what it has to offer with my own eyes before I'm reduced back into dust.
