Me and my husband have decided to travel with a motorhome starting January 2017 from Vietnam to eastern Europe for a whole one year. We are from USA. is it possible to travel with a motorhome through Vietnam-Cambodia,laos, Nepal?are international driver license are accepted in those countries?do we need to pay any tax for our motorhome or we just need to get a temporary permit?
I heard cars in Vietnam are so expensive, so we might need to ship our motorhome from USA or just buy a RV from somewhere in Southeast Asia.which one you recommends?

Reply to this Sounds like an interesting idea. I've heard of people doing similar by motorbike or bicycle but not by any four wheeled vehicle. You could try googling Overlanding websites.
Have you been to SE Asia before? If not, think about the traffic as it really is something else, and also consider the level of corruption and expect lots of bribes.
Reply to this There are roads that connect Vietnam to Europe so it is physically possible. However, the logistics is another matter.
I read a book about a decade ago "The Adventure Capitalist" by Jim Rogers. He is a multi-millionaire venture capitalist who writes about driving around the world in a modified Mercedes sports car, including through some very dangerous places. He picked a Mercedes because he was sure there would be a Mercedes garage everywhere, especially the dangerous countries as every tin pot dictator has to have his Mercedes maintained. It's on Amazon. I would recommend you read the book to get an idea of what you will be up against. Besides, it's a great tale!
In any case, your plan will be very expensive...just shipping the RV to Asia to start with. I would love to know your motivation for such an undertaking!
Reply to this Yes.. but you need some luxuries. A decent toilet.. shower.. (get an ecocamel shower head!) and decent cooking set up..
