HELP! First timers to these countries, and need as many tips as possible.

Hi All.. My boyfriend and I are trying to plan a trip to Europe in the summer/fall of 2015, and, frankly, don't really know where to start. We both agreed that Spain, France, and Italy are where we want to go, but other than that we are lost. We will have about 14 days (I know two of those will be travel days), and a budget from around $10k-20k. We Are willing to splurge on a few nice things, ie.. First class tickets, a few nights in A nice hotel, a great meal or two.
Our mail questions would be regarding airlines, hotels, and what to see in each country. We will be flying out of Los Angeles. How many days to stay in each place? Any tips would be much appreciated!

I don't even know where to begin!

I spent two weeks travelling Italy from north to south & still didn't see everything I wanted to.

12 days (excluding travelling) is a very short period of time to visit 3 countries. Realistically you will only be able to see 1 or 2 places in each country.

If you aren't sure where to go in Italy check out our Italy blogs for some ideas. You could also check out some of our France blogs too although we haven't travelled as extensively in France.

If you have any questions let me know. Reply to this

Your budget should be enough in any of the places you have mentioned.
I would recommend picking one country and staying for all two weeks so you can see more.

If you go to all three countries you will spend a lot of time moving around and won't get to see much or enjoy it as much as you would if you picked one.

Consider this:

Fly LA to Rome
Spend 4 days in Rome, 4 days in Florence, rent a car and drive to small towns in Tuscany I would do this for 6 days and fly back

Fly LA to Paris
Spend 6 days in Paris and then decide if you want to head to northern France or Southern France for the remaining days. Take a train , bus or rent a car to explore

Fly LA to Madrid
Spend 4 days in Madrid, 4 days in Toledo, 4 days in Barcelona and 2 days in another city.

You will be much happier sticking to one country for a 2 week trip.
