Just looking for some recent posts about Sri Lanka..
I decided to travel Sri Lanka and India for 3-4 months in Sept/Oct this year ( probably about a month or so in Sri Lanka) and I wanted to see if I could get some up to date info on cheap hostels, recommendations etc. Best beaches to go to and foods to try in Sri Lanka. I've looked at hostelworld etc at prices and seems a bit steep for bunks there especially if I plan on staying a while and exploring. Anyways thanks everyone who can contribute! Most of the stuff here is very old on the forum.

Reply to this The beach resorts in Sri Lanka are not the cheapest in the region but in terms of quality service and value for money, they would be hard to replicate. One option would be AVANI Hotels & Resorts.
In response to: Msg #181580 Reply to this Yes this is true. Perhaps you would want to come over to Anantaya Resort & Spa. The beautiful beaches of the town of Chilaw would be hard to miss. The facilities here are modern and appealing.

It would be much better to take a house on rent than to stay in lodge or hotel for a month or more.
Also, you can save your money.
