Sensational Ezra.
Brings back memories...the first LP I ever bought as a teenager was a 10" LP by the Russian Red Army Choir of Cossack Folk songs...sensational !!!
The second was Cosmos Factory.

In the early 1990s, I hung out at a club run by a Spanish speaking DJ who played lots of European dance music. His mix included an incredibly catchy Spanish tune with a matching dance from the video. As it slowly spread to other clubs, knowing the dance was worth coolness points. This all ended the day a Miami group released an English remake, said remake spent fourteen weeks at the top of the pop chart, and became so over-saturated it was now a cliche. I won't touch the English version to this day, but the Spanish original still brings back memories: Los del Rio, Macarena

Wow. Fantastic Ezra. I wonder if they prospered from royalties from the remake that went viral even in this country. Reply to this

According to Wikipedia, they got a 25%!c(MISSING)ut and earned millions.

The English remake was voted the worst song of the 1990s by VH1 ten years ago; sadly, I fully agree. Reply to this
