Hello Ralph and welcome to Travelblog!

I always take insurance - as the saying goes "If you cannot afford travel insurance, you cannot afford to travel.

When booking insurance, ensure you check the conditions - especially exemptions and baggage payout limits. Cheaper policies are cheap because their payout limit may only be 500-1000 dollars. Anyone with a decent camera or electronic items is going to easily pass that amount. Reply to this

In response to: Msg #180247 Thanks! We are doing a boat-bike tour in Belgium, the company offers cancellation insurance, I think I'll sign-up for it. Reply to this

Any international trips we buy insurance. What happens if you miss a flight, someone is sick or your luggage is stolen. I think we have used it twice - once for a doctors fee in south Africa when ridiculously sick, and once to cover a dodgy hotel and we went ot another. Reply to this
