Hi everyone,
please let me briefly introduce myself and my inquiry. I´m a Cultural Anthropologist from Germany, based at Hamburg University. Currently, I´m working on my postdoctoral project, in which I focus on tourism, Islam, gender and modernity. I want to look at Arabs from the Arab Peninsular/Gulf states traveling to Malaysia (and vice versa: Malaysians traveling to the Arab Peninsular) - what makes Arabs to come to Malaysia, what do you imagine regarding this country, what does travelling mean to you, how do you organize your stay and so on.
At the moment, I´m staying in Kuala Lumpur until end of January. I'm planning to go the UAE in spring 2014. I´m very much interested in getting in contact with you Arabs - either here in Malaysia during your stay, or - if you are from the UAE, in the UAE itself later on, before or after your stay in Malaysia.
If you are an Arab from the Arab Peninsular traveling to Malaysia and if you are interested in participating in my research, please contact me at
<snip> or
<snip> (until January 22nd)
Of course I can give you more information about my project, if you like.
Thank you very much and kind regards,
Viola Thimm
