Travelling in Nepal with food allergies

We are intending to travel to Nepal but were in a gas explosion in Bali last year and it has left us allergic to almost everything (gluten, nuts, soy, tomato, potato, mushroom, eggplant, coconut, msg, food colouring, preservative, canola oil, blended vegetable oil) We are wondering if anyone has had any experiences travelling in Nepal with food allergies and or advice?

We are allergic to the above mentioned foods due to the inhalation of gas or the actual blast of the explosion ,We are being treated by a homeopath in Sydney where we are based but she says it will be around another year before we are able to eat some if not all these things again
.We are also vegan and dont eat garlic or onions which makes things harder still. We are fine with whole rice, lentils chick peas etc most veges chili olive grapessed oil sunflower oil herbs etc And we prefer organic food when available.
We would appreciate hearing from anyone with similar allergies who has experience travelling in Nepal and would greatly appreciate any advice as it is quite daunting not knowing if we will be able to find suitable food that wont make us ill.Thank you.Namaste! Reply to this

Not having travelled to Nepal, I can only give general advice. If you're keen on travelling to Nepal, I would suggest bringing your own sources of pre-packaged food (power bars, etc) to sustain you through. You might be able to get away with eating certain things but I'm not always sure that locals understand what you're asking even if you have the phrasebook.
For example, I travelled with a vegetarian girl while in Peru. The restaurant's vegetarian solution for her was to give her chicken soup with vegetables minus the obvious chunks of chicken despite the chicken fat still floating about. This happened on several locations at different restaurants.

Good luck! Reply to this
