An overwhelming yes does not mean that every part of the country is safe. But this rule applies to most countries anyway.

Reply to this I've not been to either, but Manila is a big city and so all the usual big city precautions apply. We have a few Manila based bloggers on Travelblog, I reckon one of them will provide a comment at some stage and they could answer your query more fully.
Reply to this Im not really afraid.imvam afraid though of airplanes since ive never been on one..i did meet a girl from tacloban city though is the reason for my travels.i just hope its legit.
