I need to know if i have to cook my own food for a month!? i can't cook! or is economically feasable to eat out every night. If i had to cook for myself, i would literally live off toast and chocolate. What are the cooking conditions like in hostels?
all help much appreciated
Reply to this Cooking facilities are generally very good in the hostels if that helps :-)
Reply to this I would learn how to cook and fast. Eating out in NZ is not cheap. But if you have to buy food try and find a takeaway joint that does the usual fish and chips but there are posh versions popping up so stay away from those, cos they are heaps smaller in portions and charge you about double. Food courts (if in bigger cities) are alright and the prices are reasonable compared to the restaurants. And of course there are the McDonalds et al. all around but not sure if youll want to eat that. The kebab places are good as well. (this is all bigger cities)
Other tips I'll try and buy most of my stuff from a supermarket and vege store (for fruits and veg) rather then dairies (they are expensive and not neccesary fresh). If you can find a good veg shop (the asian ones are always good) I'll shop there instead of the supermarkets. Hope this helps.
