Going to be in Vienna for 4 days in June...

I am going to be in Vienna for 4 days this June and am looking for some advice.

I'll be traveling solo this time, Scott's staying home, so take into account single female traveler.

first off, accommodations, I was looking at hostels, specifically the two wombat city hostels (the Lounge and the Naschmarkt) and Believe-it-or-not. Has anyone stayed at any of these three? I'm looking for something centrally located.

second, I'm considering a couple of different options while I am there. I was thinking of doing one day of the hop-on-hop-off bus tour, thoughts? I was also interested in doing the river boat to Budapest.

I have 4 full days to see the city, after Vienna I will be spending time in Bratislava with my dad. Any advice, thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks guys 😊 Reply to this

You can go by boat to Bratislava in 1 hour, the boat is called Twin City Liner. You can also do some day trips to Prague or Budapest if you want. There are many cool events in June. You can get more information on Vienna at Vienna City Guide. There is a Ring Tram which goas aroudn the ring which is the main boulevard of Vienna and you can see all main sights like Opera, Parliament, imperial Palace for about 7 Euro I think. From 21. bis 23. Juni 2013 there is the Danube Island Festival with lots of music and young people and free admission. Make use of the Vienna card as it gives you discount on many sights like museums and free public transportation. You can go by public bus I think 38 A to Kahlenberg where you will have the best point of view on Vienna. In the evening you can go to Museumsquartier MQ as there are many people relaxing and enjoying summer.I have not been staying at some of the youth hostels you mentioned but I know that they are quite popular...

Thanks for the tips!

my dad is flying in a few days after me and we will travel to Bratislava then, I'm just looking for things to do myself before he gets there.

I definitely want to see some of the main sites, and am interested in doing the boat ride down the Danube to Budapest for a day or 2.

Do you know where I can buy the Vienna card? Reply to this

Yes I know where you can buy the Vienna Card. You can purchase the Vienna Card from the Tourist Info in Vienna , at your hotel, or from Vienna Transport Authority ticket offices. This discount card allows you to travel around Vienna for 72 hours on the subway,
bus or streetcar, and gives you a discount on more than 210 sights, Reply to this
