Camping in Argentina and Patagonia

Should I camp and where?

I am heading to Argentina and patagonia from February through March, then on up the coast of Chile to Peru and eventually around the whole continent. Should I lug down camping equipment? I am traveling alone and need to spend as little as possible throughout my journey, but I don't know how dangerous it is as far as the weather and people. Is it worth it?

Everyone tells me camping is pretty safe here, especially near Barioloche. Haven´t heard of any problems from anyone, and I just spent two weeks camping near Veronica (although it was for a volunteer project). But there were other families and people camping nearby, and it seems super safe. I´m certainly gonna camp when I get further south. I´ve heard particularly good things about El Bolson. Can´t wait! So bring your gear. It´s heavy and a pain in the ass, but worth it when you´re in the field. buenas suerte!
