In response to: Msg #161240 I am jealous of your Itinerary Jetsetters! I have read your blog and I like it how you have kept trying to settle back down into work without success :-) Sounds very similar to me and my gf.

I have just booked flights to go to the Philippines in March 2012. We have been looking to go back ever since we went in 2010. We will be there for 15 days and will probably spend most of this time in between El Nido and Coron. El Nido is probably the best place I have ever been to (in more opinion of course). Please go there if you can! I would recommend more time in the Philippines as well as there is so much to see. Then the summer of 2013 me and my gf should be leaving to go and teach in Asia for a year. BOSH!

Sooooo only 185 days to go until I am back in the Bacuit Archipelago of Palawan. Going to be a long 6 months. I look forward to keeping up with your blogs to help me along... Reply to this

Sorry to bump this thread up again but I just realised its actually only 67 days until my month in the south pacific and while I have some parts of the trip booked..the other really important bits like inter island flights etc need a firm decision.

Ive actually never come across a more difficult to deal with destination than the atolls of FP to be honest. Dive centres are very few, small and booked out on some of the spots i want to dive. Its taken me a couple of months to get firm confirmation on dive bookings and im in two minds about bora bora....

Do I go because..well, im in the neighbourhood so I may as well because I probably wont be spending another month in FP anytime soon....or do I leave it and spend the extra couple of thousand on a trip to thailand later in the year? I miss thailand..but i dont want to look back and go..oh damn I shouldve gone.?

Anyone else ever had a trip thats..awkward...? Reply to this

Decisions, decisions - but it is a good dilemma to have! I'd opt for spending my money on exploring something new instead of returning somewhere I've been before, thus I'd favour exploring FP more.

Difficult travelling conditions (such as flight connections) I've had a few times, mainly in planning travel around Africa, but it would have to be very difficult in order to deter me. Reply to this

You do have a point..ive lived in thailand and been there many times..its just the trying to make sure every flight to each atoll works out and I dont find myself having to pay horrendous charges to change flights ..

so much for travel agents 😉 Reply to this

My limited experience with travel agents is that it pays to do the work for them (as it were) on unusual destinations. I've sometimes obtained quotes on fares that were a bit complex and/or different. Sometimes they were cheaper, but many times they were not, especially since many agents can only deal with flights ex Australia instead of point-to-point overseas. Reply to this
