Great idea for thread! Wonder why I didn't see it earlier.

A long time back, my father, sister and I are all doing some hiking and rock-scrambling in the mountains of Eastern Washington - followed a trail for the most part, but then broke for lunch on the boulder covered hillside. Back the trailhead: dad's lost the car key. Search and search, no luck. Fortunately there's a spare.

Fast forward more than *five years* later. My father is leading a group of rock-climbers to the same area, same trail, they break for lunch. A snake draws his attention over behind a rock, he looks down, something glints in the such - lo and behold it's his car key, still tied to the same piece of utility cord. Still drove the same car too.

Must have stopped to eat on the same inviting rock outcrop when we were kids and knocked it out of the pack.
