Will my laptop/ipod work okay in La Paz?

I've heard some horroe stories of hardrives crashing and ipods/ipads going kaput.

I need a straight answer on this one. If I take my laptop and ipod/ipad to La Paz and switch them on, will they be okay?

Has anyone been there and had problems?

I assume La Paz sells electronics like this (and also assume that they are not specifically made for high-altitide use, so from this can I assume that everything will be fine. Or can I assume nothing?
