Ryanair's overweight charge

wanted to know what if I exceed their luggage limits (last time it was 15kg)

Hi I'm planning to fly with Ryanair to Stansted as they are the cheapest airline around.

The problem is that I'll be staying there for a couple of months so their luggage limit of 15kg is really scant. what if i my luggage is about 16.xxkg? will they charge me every gram?

thanks in advance

In a word - yes. I flew to Milan in mid Jan and my bag was 16.2 - the check-in girl made me remove every bit of excess or else she would charge me! It happened the way back also - was about 18kg and when i removed some things to put in my carry on bag, it was still 16.1 or something and she made me remove more things - i guess it depends if you can sweet talk them and smile! so if you're a guy and have a girl checking you in then you can prob get away with it! I had about 17 kg and they made me take some stuff out until it was 15,9 kg... my friend had to pay, I think it was 8 pounds for every kg but I'm not sure, I'm sure you can find out if you have a look to their website

If you've not yet travelled, or for the information of other travellers, I regularly fly with Ryanair and my experience is that the check-in operators in the UK are quite strict, but as long as you are under 16 kilo's they seem to be OK. I have always found the return trip (back from France) more lenient and have weighed my luggage in at over 17 kilo's before now, without charge. Their current excess baggage charges are £5.50 or 8 euro per kilo.

Hi
I knew a girl who worked checkin for Ryanair. She claimed they were paid commision for the money they charged on overweight luggage! You might be lucky but I would say, flying Ryanair don't take the chance. You will have the added advantage of not having to carry it when you get there. Enjoy! EdAm Reply to this

Expect to pay! I don't know anyone (myself included) who has gotten away with excess. Sports gear included - some airlines will let you off ski boots, etc. But not Ryan air, unfortunately. Reply to this

I have used Ryanair many times, particularly Stansted. They will charge you for excess, so be prepared to pay. The last time I flew out of Stansted I had hand baggage only, and the girl insisted on weighing it! Luckily it was 9.8kg (10kg max) and I wonder if she noticed my smug face! Reply to this
