Can't decide btwn 10 days in Colombia v. 10 days in Peru. Help!

Hi all.

So, we've been home from our RTW trip long enough now that we are finally able to travel internationally again. We've been at our jobs long enough now that we have 10 days.

We were thinking about either traveling to Colombia or Peru. Our RTW was originally supposed to include these countries, but we had to cut them out for various reasons.

We are big hikers and would love to do the Inca Trail, but we've heard so many amazing things about Colombia. We've also heard from other travelers that Peru is extremely touristy now but Colombia is not quite that touristy yet. We'd like to take advantage of the un-touristy-ness, but worry that if we dont do the Inca Trail now, it might never happen. We are planning to go in May.

Any advice?

Hi! I went to Colombia, and it was incredible! I can't really say much about Peru, because I haven't been to Peru! If you like to hike but also like beautiful beaches, I recommend to you El Parque Tayrona near Santa Marta on the northern coast! It has the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen, and it's all nature-created. The beaches are all isolated, and each beach is about a 20-45 minute hike from the nearest other beach, and the entire zone is completely isolated from the rest of the civilized world by a 4 hour hike through the jungle!!! It's incredible -but just so you know, the people there will charge you an arm and a leg for necessary items, such as water -so either take water with you or bring money, because there are no other sources of potable water unless you buy it! Here's a video of my Colombian Experience, if you're interested in viewing it! Please don't forget to click the LIKE button!!! Thanks! And enjoy it!!!

For sure I would say Colombia ... And yes it is true: Colombia is a not-trampled-by-tourism destination yet! I fell in love with the country because of the great variety of flora & fauna and its heartwarming population. <snip>
