Hi, I am new to the forum and have been reading as much as I can about NZ but would like to post a couple questions.
First is the current climate. I read the post about winter there but I was wondering if hiking is still popular and doable in february. I have looked at the temps, precipitation, etc but would like a more personal account. Hiking would be the main purpose of my trip, and pending the status of a job interview might be only a month or so away. I need a visa to travel because NZ is not in the EU correct?
Also I am looking for a good online resource for employment popular for NZ. I am a technologist as well as a trades person and wouldn't mind finding something in my field (instrumentation) full time for part of a year. Currently the city I am in has nothing much more to offer me and I am contemplating working away for a year. How long or hard is it to get a work visa?
Thanks in advance!
Reply to this Hi BFT,
Welcome to TravelBlog.
Hiking is absolutely doable in February. February is probably the most consistent month weatherwise, so it would be a perfect time for you to be looking around and/or settling in.
You don't mention which nationality you are, or how old you are. This may make a difference with work visas options.
Do you have a preferred region to live in, or will that be work dependent?
