Reply to this I wish I would have been to all you had mentioned!
I'd also nominate the Big Island, Hawaii. So much to do there. North and east are full of dazzling waterfalls and the south is volcano heaven with lava that you can walk on and flows steaming as they hit the ocean. West side has incredible white sand beaches.
Kauai, Hawaii was also very pretty. The Waimea Canyon area is a little Grand Canyon of sorts.
Reply to this OK - you've hooked me. Islands are somehow terribly exciting to me. My wife and kids and I plan to see more islands this summer off the northeast coast of the US like Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Mount Desert Island. Anyway I'll give you my top ten of the islands I have already seen. Sorry - most are fairly large.
1. South Island (NZ)
2. Vancouver Island (Can)
3. North Island (NZ)
4. Prince Edward Island (Can)
5. Fraser Island (Aus)
6. Stewart Island (NZ)
7. Ulva Island (NZ)
8. Grand Bahama
9. Skye (UK)
10. Funen (Denmark)
Reply to this The Perhentian Islands on East coast Malaysia, go there now before they are spoilt, much better than the Thai islands.
Reply to this Hi Bill and Sue,
just an advice: beware the prices on Martha's, campsite starting at 50 bucks. And Mount Desert is slightly overcrowded. But great area. Overall Nova Scotia deserves more attention than Maine, I think.
