Why are you so expensive?

So I'm going through my vaccination listing and man, I just wanted to vent.

Japanese encephalitis is one expensive vaccine. I'm no expert, but this is kind of rediculous.

A series of 2 or 3 shots ranging from $165 - 250 per shot + a consultation fee.

If anyone is wondering - I live in NY.

Is this the going rate throughout the US? How about Europe? I've thought about getting this done while I'm in Asia, but I don't really want to deal with this while I'm trying to travel. Tack another expense onto the list. Reply to this

Wow! That is expensive!

I had the Green Cross vaccination. The first two shots were done in Sweden where if I remember correctly I paid somewhere in the region of 350 SEK for each shot. The final one was done in the UK and I paid £45 for that. Reply to this

Do you need it? It's only advised if you are going to be spending large amounts of time in the jungle.

You can get it at the Red Cross hospital in Bangkok, by the snake farm. It's 3 shots over a month. Much cheaper than you are quoting, something like 1,000 baht a shot.
