Please critique my routing:
Myself - I can add more days as I have more days off. Trying to accomadate several people on this trip for the Patagonia portion.
4 days BA - With a trip to Iguazu (going to brazil first and then coming back)
3 nights - Ushuasia
3 nights - Calafate
3 nights - Chalten
3 nights - Torres Del Paine
Then fly out of BA or ....
Thinking of starting around the 9 or 10th of November (I can go earlier); going until November 27ish (end of US Thanksgiving holiday).
Advice? Tips? Doable? Skip Calafate?
THanks and appreciate.
Reply to this It's well worth visiting El Calafate in order to see the glacier but, depending on transport in/out, you wouldn't need more than 2 nights. The scenery around El Chalten is gorgeous and not to be missed. I think you'd need an absolute minimum of 4 days to do Torres del Paine justice so I would suggest scrapping Ushuaia (nice setting but certainly less interesting than your other options) - if you add its 3 days to your TdP allocation, plus the day left over from El Calafate, then you'll have a week to devote to TdP.
In terms of transport, it might be cheapest to book a return flight from BA to El Calafate. You can then access El Chalten and TdP by bus. I should add that I was last in the region 3 years ago, so things may well have changed since then! Hopefully someone with more recent experience will comment.
