Is backpacking in central America dangerous?

I desperately need some tips on what prevautions to take while backpacking in central america.

we love everybody who had a big heart, theres no time to fight only living and living in peace....
if anybody comes to antigua find me.....
we love tourits we live from tourism.....
so why fight if there is only love....

Hi chrispanama,

Ik heb een paar vraagjes.
Graag wil aankomend september naar zuid/centraal Amerika om mijn Spaans bij te spijkeren. Maar nu hoor ik van velen dat zuid Amerika onveilig is. Maar toen las ik uw column over Panama en dat u het dat niet als onveilig ervaart. Ik zou graag voor 6 maanden een talencursus willen doen of misschien werken als au pair, weet u misschien adresjes?
