Schengen re-entry

Possibility of re-entry after leaving for a week.

My dad is coming to Europe this August to travel around with me for a month!!! (yay).

I have a working visa good for a year from Norway so I'm allowed to travel around freely within the schengen area and exit and re-enter no problem.

My dad is coming from Canada so he will be granted a 90 visa on arrival, but I'm curious if he can leave and re-enter. We're planning on driving around, and are planning on visiting Romania, which is entering the Schengen area a few months to late for us.

So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this.
Have you been able to exit, stamp out, and then re-enter and get a fresh shiny new visa a week after? I was told I wasn't allowed to do this when we were here in the fall last year; of course this was coming from Norwegian immigration.
Or if you really can't re-enter so soon, is there a special visa that you can apply for as a non-EU/non Schengen member coming from Canada?

I checked the Wiki page but couldn't find any relevant information

any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys 😊

I'll check but I didn't think it had anything to do with the EU as it's seperate from the Schengen. Reply to this

As far as I know, if your father has a Canadian passport he doesn't need a visa, so you will have no problem whatsoever. As long as he comes for tourism. If he wants to live with you for longer (usually 90 days, but don't know about Norway) he needs a residence permit. Reply to this

It's fine. If you don't need a visa to enter a Schengen country then you can stay for 90 days in a 180 day period. This doesn't expire if you leave the Schengen area, nor do you lose any of your 90 days. You'll need to sort out papers for Romania separately if they're required, I think that's all. Romania is trying to get into the Schengen area so I doubt it's too much bother. Reply to this

Thank you Zeibura!!! That's what I was trying to get at. 😊

Romania was supposed to enter in March this year but it's been postponed until October. Reply to this

Hi there, I recently entered Italy from the UK, stayed for five days, went back to the UK for a month and then back into the Schengen area through France. I'm on an Australian passport. No probs for me at all....the immigration guys in both Rome and the French border barely looked at my passport.... Reply to this
