Can you help us with our 3 country 3 week intinerary??. We want plenty of beach time, a day of scuba and visit 1 or 2 mayan sites and a few old colonial towns. We will be flying into Cancun on 13th June 2011 as it the most cost effective way to get to C America. As it will be just after all the wedding mayhem we plan a total chill out in either cancun or somewhere close by for the 1st 4/5 days or so, maybe 3nights in cancun and 2 in tulum.(Should we explore more of inland mexico before moving on??) We will then travel overland prob by bus to Belize so we can go to Caye Caulker for a couple of nights. Is there anywhere else worth seeing in Belize before we head onto Honduras, again prob overland. I would like to visit Flore/Tikal too if its not too difficult or time consuming.? What is the best way to go from Belize to Honduras??, should we be stopping in Livingston or somewhere else?? our ultimate aim is to get to Bay islands (roatan) for 2/3 nights before flying back to Cancun for return flight home. Are there are other places in Honduras worth spending a day or 2 before we go back?? What about Copan?

We haven't been to Honduras yet but may drop in there shortly. We are also not really doing much of the luxury thing - but it would be nice.

Tulum has a nice beach and there are some nice places along the beach front. Don't just pull up at the first one you come to though. The better ones are along the road to the ruins. We enjoyed San Christobal de las Casas and Oaxaca in that general area of Mexico. Chichen Itza has a lot of visitors but is worth a look. We stayed in Valladolid and found it a really relaxed and easy place to stay with plenty of accommodation options. From there we took a bus to Chetumal and then caught a bus into Belize and on to Orange Walk. Some good places to stay there as well, including ones that are pretty flash, but the more budget places were pretty good.

There are apparently great beach and diving options in Belize but we aren't so much into that so can't comment. Everywhere is close though and it doesn't take long to get around on the local buses. We stopped off at San Ignacio in Belize and then crossed the border into Guatemala and on to Flores/Tikal. Flores is easy and nice, plenty of tourists.
