Describe the celebrations where you are. Are you at home or away?
I am at home.
At midnight all over Germany, just about everybody sets off fireworks. We dont, because I think they are just too dangerous to handle. The explosions go on for over an hour, so I wonder just how many fireworks the average person here buys for this night. Does everybody buy enough for an hour...
For the rest of the day, it is going out for breakfast and then buying some party type food to eat during a lazy day. Then we will wake our daughter up at midnight to see the fireworks.
Reply to this Happy new year Mell & all you other Travelbloggers, Nikki & I will be at home in London staying at home in the warm, luckily we can see the fireworks at the Thames from our living room window.
What is everyone else doing?

I'm away from home - I have no idea if there will be city wide celebrations - I plan to head out to Lavinia (lots of bars at a beach) and see what happens.
I don't think it's just me but some of my best ever nights and worst ever nights have been on the new year, so much expectation from so many people, inevitably leads to many being disappointed. Hope wherever you are you have a good one 😊

We have a restaurant book, but as we are with our little guy, 10 years old...don't think we'll go around bars. And to start 2011, we are waking up at 6am to see the Krak des Chevaliers. I guess the biggest party of the year will have to do without us this year....already planing the next one in 365 days, will be on a beach!
Reply to this In Ho Chi Minh, New Year is brought in by riding round and round the city on motorbikes until midnight.
However, I have a sore throat so we are staying in. Hopefully we will still be able to catch the fireworks from our 10th floor apartment.
Have a good one everyone. We'll greet it before you, Peter and family, Mell, Chris and Nikki, and shortly before Ali!

Fantastic evening and the first one without the sound of bombs and shootings since I arrived, so quite memorable!

This year we headed to the arctic circle for New Years which we have just posted a blog up about with another to come. It is an amazing place up in Kiruna.. Although a little to cold at times 😊 It was a little different to see all the locals letting of fireworks for Chris as in Australia it is banned (due to way to many bustfires as a result and a few injuries but the cold of the north takes care of that) so a nice experiance.
So for the upcoming year we wish everyone the best on the road and happy travels 😊
Reply to this Just read the Kiruna blog, it's the first time we have seen pictures of where we will be getting married, only 7 weeks until the big day, we can't wait!!! :-)

We counted in the New Year in London at friends house party.
It was lovely to be back with our friends & family to celebrate the festive season but more than a little part of us wished we were back where we were this time last year!
Reply to this Happy New Year everyone!
It was a strange celebration for me as I got food poisoning... I was fine up until about 11 pm, all psyched up for a big night out in Delhi....but then disaster struck and I had the most miserable 5 hours of my entire life.....
Only way is up after that right? :-)

I celebrate my new year at Mountain View. This is beautiful city and i was went their first time. I really too enjoy at this city. Specially its taxi services is too good and too cheapest then any other taxi services.Travelers may want to consider a yellow cab Mountain View <snip> for several reasons. One of the main considerations is convenience.
