Hey Guys,
I plan on trevlling thru Russia next summer and am trying to make some plans. I want to spend around 5 days in both Moscow and St Petersberg, and then plan on spending a couple days in a few choice destinations on the way.
The problem i have is the last destination before leaving russia for mongolia. I'll have spent around 20-25 days already in Russia by the time i get to Irkutsk. I'm aware visas last for 30 days and dont fancy a fight with the authorities for overstaying.
The question therefore would be, is 5 days enough to visit Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, Olkhon Island, and take a trip on the Circum-Baikal Railway?
Would there be anything else you'd consider a MUST also?
Cheers
Dan
Reply to this Hi Dan,
Well, we usually say that 3-4 days is enough time for visiting Irkutsk and Listvyanka which is the closest spot to Irkutsk at lake Baikal and if you plan to go to Olkhon then consider spending here at least 5-7 days.
A trip on the Circum-Baikal Railway can be a one-day trip. Olkhon is about 3-4 hours drive from Irkutsk.
Reply to this Many Thanks Nastia,
That will definitely help planning for Irkutsk and Baikal.
