I dont understand why Cannibalism is treated with such disgust and horror through eurocentric eyes. In PNG cannibalism while banned by the white man is an honourable way to pay hommage to a respected tribal elder after they have passed on. Human sacrifice is a totally different matter but along came the missionaries and banned a 40,000 year old practice of the strengths and qualities of a person being passed onto their family/tribe members post death. Papuans see this as a sign of paying respect in a very spiritual and private manner. Reply to this
