Which travel websites do you most use when planning a trip or vacation, and how much success do you find them?

I first started planning years ago using Virtual Tourist, but it is now a bit quiet compared to Tripadvisor forums and destination pages. I am finding on Tripadvisor quite up to date informations about hotels, restaurants, attractions and the cultural preferences of countries I want to go. Any questions I ever have seem to receive answers in minutes instead of days or weeks with other forums I have tried, which I love as it is more like a conversation then. What about your experiences to share?

Hello Hercule 😊

Which I find best depends on what I am looking for.

For inspiration on where to go on future trips, and/or reassurance that it is safe and that other women do it too I read blogs, such as those here on TravelBlog.org.

For quick answers to my questions, I use the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree site, or Virtual Tourist. I also post those questions here on TravelBlog, to add to the information and opinions I get from the other 2 sites.

For quick and detailed answers about India, I use IndiaMike.

I dont trust any site in particular for hotel, restaurant... advice. No matter which site I ask on, I only take the advice of those I know are experienced and genuine travellers with a good reputation. I usually rely on TravelBlog.org for this type of recommendation, because I know many of the bloggers here by their regular blog and forum post reputation.

For interesting travel discussions, I like TravelBlog.org or IgoUgo.

I've started to use "Where to travel next" recently and I love it.

give it a try, it is really cool for planning or just for exploring the world. Reply to this
