Hoping to move to Perth and wondered which part is the nicest to live?

My fiancee and I are hoping to move to Perth, I've done a bit of research on some of the suburbs but wondered if anyone that knows Perth well could tell me where is a nice place to live (hopefully not too expensive), preferably near the sea? Reply to this

Hi im assuming you mean Perth in West Aus - if you are looking at rental properties near the sea I would look at suburbs such as Rockingham where you have a decent offering of units/ houses in the $300 - $500 per week range sometimes even a little less. It really depends on how near the sea you want to be - suburbs like Cottesloe, Scarborough and Fremantle are very in demand with big rents - expect around $400 - $650 minimum for a house if you can get one. A flat in Cottesloe with ocean views can set you back anywhere from $300 - $800. I guess it depends on if you have work lined up going for a suburb you can afford that isnt going to result in you sitting in traffic for an hour each way i.e if you worked in the city and lived in Joondalup or Mandurah. I have lived south of the river all my time here so prefer it but if you are after a bit of cosmopolitan bustle and the cafe type culture then you will pay more to go to areas like downtown fremantle and city beach or scarborough or hillarys. Anything that has a suburb with the word Marina in its name is going to cost you a lot to live. Be aware also that Perth is very expensive food wise and for dining out - my weekly shopping bill for 4 can range from $300 - $600. Perth does not have a great public transport system so unless you have a car you will be restricted to areas along the perth - mandurah train line or the perth - joondalup line if you want to be close to the sea. If you have a car then perhaps look at somewhere like Beeliar which is really only 10 minutes drive from the fremantle beaches and rents are around the $350 - $450 mark for a relatively newish house. Hope this helps - for all the little downsides to me Perth is still the cruisiest capital city in Aus and not a bad place to call home. Best of luck 😊 Reply to this

lol Yes Perth in West Aus,
Thanks for the info on grocery shopping and eating out, I'd heard it was expensive but had no idea of numbers, I eat ALOT so hopefully I can afford to live there lol.
I'm hoping to sort out a job at some point in the next year as we're going to be moving over in 12-18 months time. Reply to this

I lived in Perth for 3 years and loved it!!! I would recommend living in Fremantle or there abouts it is amazing. Has a great beach and cafe life style. Reply to this
