We have about 9 days between KL and Singapore before flying off to Greece and I've been tempted with getting another Bamboo tattoo before we leave SEAsia. (not sure if and when we'll be back in SEA, and from what I know it's one of the only areas in the world to get a proper bamboo tattoo).
has anyone seen or gotten a bamboo tattoo in KL or Singapore? How were the prices, quality and cleanliness compaired to places in Thailand? Do you have any suggestions for good tattoo parlours that can do bamboo tattoos? Thanks!

Reply to this What are bamboo tattoos like? I have regular tattoos and will be in Thailand later this year and would like to get a bamboo tattoo. Do they hurt? Are they safe? Where would you recommend in Thailand to get one done?? Are they expensive? Sorry for all the questions!
Reply to this I've never had a regular tattoo, only bamboo, so I can't compaire the two. I really like them but from what I've heard they fade faster then regular tattoos. Neither of mine hurt that bad (both on the back, lower and upper) but I didn't eat before I got my second one and felt like I was going to feint (low blood sugar). Safeness would be just like any other tattoo, depends on the tattoo studio, and all that. There are hundreds of places all over the place though and if you know how to do your research it isn't hard to find a legit place. They are a bit more expensive then regular gun tattoos but it really depends on what you want, where you want it, and how much time and ink are involved, in my experience it can go from being just a smidgen more expensive to being 'holy crap are you kidding me' more expensive.
that being said, I love my bamboo tattoos!! they were a fun experience, I've had both done in thailand, one on Ko Phi Phi and one in Bangkok! I would definatly recommended getting one if it's something your interested in!

Reply to this That sounds good, thanks for the advice. We are in going to be in Bangkok, where did you get yours done in Bangkok? Would you recommend the shop you got yours done in?
Reply to this I would but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It was down one of the smaller alley ways, if you find the big pub called Khao San Center (It was right off of Khao San Road), it sort of looks like an Irish pub and is half way down the street, right beside the pub is a smaller alley way, head down that and take a right at the end, there's a whole bunch of shops and everything down here, walk past new joe guesthouse and head down the right fork, walk for about two more minutes and it's right there, it's hard to miss, everything in the shop (including the dog) is black and white. lol
