Hello fellow travel bloggers!
I thought I would post this new forum up as I live in one of the most busiest tourist destinations in Australia...Nth Queensland! I work at a tourist attraction as a tour guide here and grew up in the local area.
If any travellers want any advice or tips about travelling up my way feel free to ask and I'll do my best to give you all an answer!!

Hi Kristen...just read your blog and would LOVE some advice on North Qld. My husband and I are coming to Australia for our honeymoon. We are going to be in the whitsundays for 6 days, and then flying to Cairns, renting a car, and staying in Port Douglas for about 4 days.....we have another 4 days up there and planned to go stay in the Daintree, or Cape Tribulation. We were looking at silky oaks resort but haven't made any decisions yet....do you think its worth staying there or should we just stay in PD the whole time since we are going to have a car? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Mikki Reply to this

Hey Mikki,
I have not been to stay at cape trib before but have driven through it and would recommend to stop up there too. Port Douglas is only a small town and you may get bored there after a few days so seeing that you got a car then yeh, definitely stop up at the Daintree. The Daintree will make you feel like you in Tropical Nth Qld! 😊
Make sure you do a day trip around the Whitsunday islands and visit Whithaven beach!! The sand is 99% silica and it squeaks when you walk on it! Take gold jewellery with you too since the sand can clean your jewellery 😊
Hope that helps!! Kristen 😊 Reply to this

Hey Kristen

I'm going to be heading up to Northern QLD on Feb 23rd. Just wondering how thing are up there after all the flooding and the cyclone? We will be staying in Port Douglas and doing the surrounding areas before heading down the coast. Any recommended stops along our way down? Thanks! Reply to this

Hi Kristen !

WE are a fit couple in our 50´s from Germany and want to travel the East coast from Cairns to Brisbane or down to Sydnes for 3 1/2 weeks from 10th August to 4th of September most probably in a camper van .
Plan will be to stay in an appartment , rent a car at the beginning in Cairs , from there 2 0r 3 times snorkeling in the barrier reef than rent the camper and go down south .

So my questions are: will the weather be fine at this time of the year goiing fron North to South , is up tom Sydney too long ?? for this these 3 weeks ??
Do you know anything cheap for a 3 night cruise on a boat into the barrier reef for snorkeling , no scuba . What I found was extremely expensive .

Any other insider stuff from you for the north ??

Thanks a lot for answering
Have a great time
