Were a married couple that is planning to embark on a year of travelling.
Hi,
Sometime next year (as soon as we get our Canadian Passports); we'd like to embark on a year of travelling. Our plan is to jump off Canada and circle the globe towards the east:
1. Europe (West and East)
2. Middle East (Egypt, Jordan and maybe Saudi Arabia)
3. Africa (Ethiopia and Kenya)
4. Asia (India, Nepal, Burma, Indonesia)
5. Australia (Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea)
6. And finally finish things off in our home town at the Philippines.
We're mostly going to skip Central and South America this time since we've been travelling around those areas for the past 2 years. We figured dedicating a year for all this would be the best plan for us to experience varied cultures and get the travel bug out of our system (before having kids).
I guess what I'm wondering is; would anyone have an idea if $25K USD (each - includes airfare) will be sufficient enough for this adventure. On top of that we figured we're probably going to spend an additional $6K-7K more on some pre-travelling gear/expenses (footwear, apparel, bags, tents, sleeping bags, rain and winter gear and etc).
Appreciate everyones feedback on it.
Regards
Reply to this Wow, wish I was going with you... Ambitious, and an adventure. I know if it were me traveling alone and I had 25k plus had spent 3500 on gear I could do it just fine. Air Travel and hotels (depending on level, I can live as a vagabond:-) are of course always the killer. Travel by train whenever you can.
Now for 2 with 50k and 7k worth of new gear should be able to do it just fine but I am not an expert on such things, just an opinion.
Have a Great Trip and be sure to keep us posted on your adventures!
