Me & my partner will be travelling Asia (India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan) leaving in November for 8 months. This is our first trip!
We are planning on each taking a pair of cheap flip flops and a pair of quality sandals designed for long distance walking. We are unsure whether or not it is worth taking a pair of light weight walking shoes as well. I have read articles saying you dont need them for hot climates but wanted to get advice from those who have done it!
Will we need them or will they be a waste of space?
Thanks!

Reply to this Hi,
it depends what you want to do and where you will go!!
If you want to do some trekking, they will be very useful. Especially in Northern Vietnam and parts of China, or in Northern India it can become pretty cold. We´ve travelled in asia last year for 7 month and had a pair of hiking boots with us. We took them with us for our trekking in nepal, but also used them in China, India, Vietnam and even in Northern Thailand.
Reply to this Me and my partner travelled for 6 months in SE Asia and only had a pair of hiking sandals and flip flops. We did some medium intensity trekking and the sandals were absolutely fine.
