We live in west-texas and want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway we would like to end up in Ashville NC, from there our final destination is Bern NC.
Our time frame is 2 weeks middle of May to the end.
We would like to stop and spend a few nights here and there but I was wondering if there is enough time.
Can someone please give me some advise on where to start, good overnight stops and places to see we love historical sites.

It is approx 1600 miles from Midland TX to Front Royal VA. I'm not sure how hard you like to push it so I'll estimate that bit will take 4 days to complete that trip will @ 400 miles or 8 hrs a day.

It will take 16 hours of driving time to do the Blue Ridge Parkway from Front Royal VA to Roanoke VA. With a stop in the middle, that's another 2 days.

From Roanoke, it's about 500 miles to Asheville NC...one more day. And from Asheville it is about 400 miles to New Bern (which I presumed you meant. There is no Bern NC that I'm aware of). So that's another day.

That's 8 days...another 1600 miles (4 days) back to West Texas = 12 days Reply to this

Sliding Rock in Brevard is a neat little stop.

Chimney Rock is a nice place to get great mountain views

If you do make a stop in Durham check out the Duke Campus, Chapel and gardens.

Good breakdown #2, but I suggest 2 full days in Asheville. There's more to it than Biltmore Estate (which can easily take a full day). Reply to this
