Saw the post made a few days ago by a 'university student'and I rather like the question, so now I'm asking all of you:

Why did you decide to travel?
What was your favorite place and why? How did it differ from your home country?
Where have you always wanted to go, but never been, what's holding you back?

doesn't matter which you answer, or if you answer questions I didn't even ask. One of my favorite things about traveling is meeting new people and hearing their experiences and stories.

As for us, Scott and I were considering buying an apartment this past winter back home in Vancouver BC Canada, we were looking around the lower mainland (North Vancouver for those of you who know the area) and saw a lot of crap places for some pretty high prices, and I asked Scott one day.. if we can afford to buy a dump and spend the rest of our lives paying it off and worrying about the tiny little space, why not put that money into something we both want to do and see the world? We haven't looked back, from that point until we left home March 8th we focused on prepairing ourselves for the trip as best we could.
My favorite place so far is Thailand, the randomness of the country and ease that I feel when I am in the country, along with the diverse landscape, stunning white sandy beaches with crystal clear water to the mountain ranges and jungles in the north, with it's bustling city of Bangkok. I have not seen much but am looking forward to exploring much of the world.
Scott's favorite is Luxembourg, because of it's uniquness.
(these are both very likely to change over the coming year).

and for both of us, we've always wanted to go to Africa (how vague), I think for Scott it's Egypt, and myself mid/east Africa, I have an interest in early archaeology and would love to continue schooling in the feild. As to what's holding us back, right now it's a few hundred thousand miles I believe, we will eventually get to Africa but are looking forward to Asia and Europe beforehand! Reply to this

I think traveling helps you gain living experience and skills. Moreover, it provides you with a lot of the world's destinations' knowledge. Reply to this

I agree with the experience and skills!! I feel traveling offers you something that staying home and working can not, not that it makes you smarter or better then anyone else, just provides you more insight and I think helps deal with a wider variety of situations life throws at you. Reply to this

Hey, I travel cus it helps me clarify my mind, and help me breath. I find that being at home is a huge stress and maybe I am not at the point in my life where I can deal with that much...

I travel cus it helps me dream. Cus this is something I know I will be proud to have done.

By the way its true, Van is way too expensive. You can buy the basic house 10 x cheaper in Quebec Reply to this

Travel brings happiness. Why? Why does Chocolate taste so good? Why are puppies so cute? or Why does fresh cut grass smell amazing? It just does.

I don't know, something about adventure, exploring, new people, and making the most of my life. Reply to this

Well, maybe to feel free. I always need a visa to go abroad and never feel free because of that. When I have the chance to cross the orders that makes me free. I love to meet and talk new people all around the world. I believe we learn from each other, we learn from the places we visit. they say life is a long journey. why to stay at home then? It happened almost by accident. I moved from a village in Ireland to London, England after finishing high school at 19. There I had a b*tch of a landlady so moved out of her house, and into a cheap place for backpackers living long term in London and anyone else who wanted cheap rent, but did not care what the living conditions were like..

I was fascinated by the backpackers stories, and felt so untravelled in comparison. I got in a relationship with an Australian guy, who was going on a trip around Europe after he saved up some money in London. I went with him on that trip. It was that 4 month trip accross Europe and down to Greece that awakened my love of travel. Reply to this

I travel because I'm constantly curious, I love meeting new cultures, I love watching nature and wildlife, I love meeting people, I love changing, I love moving, I love hearing different sounds of languages, I love tasting all sorts of food, I like being exposed to many types of aesthetics- I simply like travelling- Can't help it Reply to this
