Trekking across the Bulgarian/Romanian border

How easy/sane is it to walk across the border between Bulgaria and Romania by the black sea?

Hey all,

As part of a long overland trip me and my girlfriend are planning this summer from Prague to Varna and back, we're thinking about putting in a long trek (probably lasting a couple of days) across the border between Bulgaria and Romania next to the black sea. After we get to Varna we're going on to Balgarevo (about 20km east of Balchik) and from there we were thinking of walking up the coast across the border to Mangalia on the Romanian side.

Has anyone done a similar trek before or just done trekking around the black sea area? If so how was it and is this idea possible? We're a bit concerned about terrain mostly, whether there will even be a path or a place to put up a tent at night, and also about poisonous snakes and how to avoid them in this area.

Thanks!

HI,I LIVE IN THE CENTER OF RUSE,RIGHT ON THE DANUBE,WHERE THERE IS A BRIDGE TO ROMANIA.I DONT KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT THE TREKKING IN THOSE AREAS,BUT IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.I KNOW THAT DURING COMMUNIST TIMES HIKING WAS VERY POPULAR HERE,AND A LOT OF THE TRAILS ARE STILL USED.BULGARIA IS VERY RELAXED COMPARED TO OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES AND THE PEOPLE ARE VERY FRIENDLY.THERE A LOT OF SNAKES BUT MOSTLY HARMLESS,THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF POISENESS SNAKE,APPARHENTLY THEY HAVE HORNED RIMMED HEADS ,SO IF YOUR BRAVE ENOUGH TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO CHECK THIS OUT..........
IV NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE BEING KILLED BY SNAKE BITE AND IV BEEN HERE 5 YEARS,SO I DONT THINK ITS A HUGE PROBLEM.....JUST DONT GO BAREFOOT IN LONG GRASS ETC.
ITS BECOMING MORE AND MORE POPULAR HERE WITH TRAVELERS,I SEE A LOT OF BACKPACKERS IN RUSE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS...AND THERE IS NO HOSTEL HERE SO I AM CONSIDERING OPENING MY HOUSE TO BACKPACKERS FOR CHEAP DIGS,LET ME KNOW IF YOUR PASSING THROUGH RUSE AND YOUL BE WELCOME.
A LOT OF BULGARIAN CITIES ARE QUITE UGLY I THINK,LOTS OOF RUN DOWN APPARTMMENT BUILDINGS(WHICH ARE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE)RUSE IS DIFFERENT ,IT HAS LOTS OF ROCOCO BUILLDINGS AND BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE,AND REAT NIGHT LIFE.ITS INCREDIBLEY SAFE FOR WOMEN TRAVELERS HERE,NEVER HEARD OF ANY CRIME AS SUCH.THE BULGARIAN PEOPLE ARE INCREDIBLEY FRIENDLY ESPECIALEY IN THE VILLAGES,WHHERE IM SURE THEYL GIVE YOU ALL THE HOME PRODUCE YOU CAN EAT,IN THE TOWNS AND CITIES THEY DO SEEM TO HAVE A VERY SOMBRE EXPRESSION......IM NOT SURE WHY THIS IS,BUT THEY WARM UP IF YOU SMILE A LOT.IM WAFFLING NOW.......LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE AND DO CALL IN IF YOUR PASSING.
