Border crossing between E and Peru

Hello, I will be heading down to Peru from Ecuador in 5 days. From what city and what bus company do you all suggest? I read on an earlier post where the border is notorious for the taxi scams that drop you off in dangerous areas where they take your money, which was the post from 3 years ago.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!! Jason Reply to this

Try to get a bus that takes you into Peru, Tumbes or Mancora are prob the best places to head for.The border crossing is the most hectic n confusing I've done but the bus staff will make it alot easier. Reply to this

As bove, it was a confusing border crossing and, at one point, the bus drove off with our backpacks and we were a little worried!

We took a bus from Cuenca (I think it was Pullmans) that went all the way to Mancora (our first stop in Peru). Other than the minor scare at the border with the bags it was all fine. Reply to this

I can't remember the name of the company I went with but I travelled by bus from Guayaquil to Piura.

I had read the same stuff when I did the crossing so I was also a little worried. Ultimately everything was fine, but for some reason everybody else on the bus had their passports stamped and I had to wait some time before they could do my one.

The bus waited and the staff stayed with me (albeit to just watch as I looked bewildered) and once my passport was stamped I was on my way. Reply to this
