Tourist re-entry to Australia, how long between visits?

How long does a tourist have to stay away before they can return to Australia?

My mum has been visiting Australia on a 6 month tourist visa and needs to know how long she has to stay out of the country before she can return or reapply for entry to australia. Does anyone know? All I can find on the websites is that she must stay away for an "extended period" but they do not specify. Does she have to stay away for as long as she has been here? I will call the IMMI for answers but it is always good to hear of other people experiences! Thanks x Reply to this
