Does anyone have a good suggestion for who to use if you want to do the Inca Trail? the Internet is full of options, but difficult to know which one to choose. Any tips would be very welcome!
Reply to this Just be sure to book it WAY in advance, as there are only a limited number of tickets available (set by the government).
Reply to this I used www.perutreks.com and I was very happy. As was everyone on my tour.
In fact one guy on my tour had used them once before too so he was pleased by them twice which shows consistency.
And when I booked I booked it in feb and by march it was sold out. So book soon if you want o do the official tour.
Reply to this I'm also a fan of
Peru Treks. I did the Inca Trail with them - great service, and they also do their bit to help the local community.
Reply to this Even though we haven't booked yet, we plan on using Karikuy, www.karikuy.org, for our next trip. They seem to handle socially conscious tourism in a very responsible way while at the same time offering their clients a once in a lifetime trip. Just my two cents!
Reply to this Hello, we recommend book as least 4 or 5 month in advance the spaces are selling very quickly.
Reply to this Also I have read many good comments about perutreks but is very expensive I used another company and my experience was wonderful.
Reply to this Hm... I'm leaving for Peru in a week's time. All this talk about booking the Inca Trail 4 months in advance is making me very nervous. Can one book the Inca trail when one gets to Peru?! I have heard this is cheaper.
Reply to this it is imposible to book the inca trail when you are already in Peru, becouse you need at least 3 months in advance to book inca trail, if you don't find any spaces available to the inca trail there are other alternatives like inca jungle trail (peru inca jungle) or salkantay trail as well
Reply to this Hi Priscilla,
Welcome to TravelBlog.
I have heard of people being able to book from Cusco, but I think it's uncommon. The problem is that once sold the permits can't be resold to another person, even if that person cancels.
But as Erick mentioned, there are good alternatives.
Reply to this Hi
Newbie here. Planning my South American adventure.
I have found this site which gives the real time availability of permits, just follow the instructions, it links directly to the consulate. The site is also the most comprehensive i found on the whole subject, what to bring, getting there & away etc. Basically everything you need to know and also links to recommended companies.
As i type there are no permits available for the classic trek up to 23rd October. I have just put in an order for my permit with Peru Treks for Nov 1st. I await their reply with fingers crossed.

Reply to this Just a question peeps. Why is my full name shown below my avatar? It clearly says this wont be displayed when i joined , i have tried to erase my surname in my account but it still shows. I would just rather not have my full name on display on the net.
Reply to this Here I found a helpful and useful link to find directly availability inca trail without so many instruction I hope the modelator don't delete this link so that it will help this to others as well.

Reply to this Erick that must link to the consulate also, the numbers remaining are an exact match on both sites.

Reply to this Jim congratulation! if you have found 206 spaces! enjoy in your inca trail as well
Reply to this Hi I've been searching for the cheapest way to do the famous 4d/3n inca trail, and came up with this:
http://www.incatrailtours.net/inca_trail_4_days.html
which looks pretty diesent and offers at 370$ if student.
Have anyone tried this company out or know a better one at the aproximately the same price or lower?
