STA Travel...

How helpful did you find them?

In planning my trip through Italy in September, I requested a callback as it said on the site I can get £20 discount by doing this...so I did it and I got a call back off a woman who seemed very nice on the phone. Told her my itinerary and she said she would email me the cheapest options for me. Now I have already checked what the cheapest flights are ON STA TRAVEL ITSELF, but the email I got from the lady quoted about £60 more expensive than what I have seen on the site??!! So I emailed her back and she was like oh...ermm...well I can't go that low.

So clearly she was working on commission. She emailed me some prices on hostels in the different cities I want to stay at, and I asked which hostels these were. She said she needed a deposit before she could disclose that. Im thinking, well I aint gettin the greatest impression of you so far and for all I know these could be real s***holes that I have to travel miles to get into the cities themselves...

I asked her opinion on what is best - Florence or Tuscany and she told me to 'check google maps for routes'.

Anyone else worked with STA in this way? What did you think? Reply to this
