Hey everyone,
My girlfriend and I are traveling to Peru in Aug of this year but are thinking about swinging into Bolivia to visit La Paz and ultimately Salar de Uyuni. Once we visit the flats we are going to be turing around to go back into Peru to visit the city of Arequipa. Does anyone have any good idea about what else we should see that is in that area of Bolivia while we are there? Also, we thought about maybe catching the northern tip of Chile but not sure if there is anything there worth seeing.
Thanks for any ideas
Ryan
Reply to this How much money do you have? When we were in Bolivia we cycled the World's Most Dangerous Road, which was great fun and an easily arranged day trip from La Paz.
We also flew from La Paz to Rurrenaque in the North of Bolivia - 40 minute flight at 75 dollars each way. There we did a three day pampas trip along a river and saw some amazing wildlife. That was about 40 pounds and included a guide, all food, and two nights accommodation. Terrific.

Reply to this When you book your Salt Flats tour in Bolivia try and get one that ends in San Pedro de Atacama , Northern Chile. There are a few different starting and ending points for the tour depending on what direction you do it from.
There are a few cool tours to do in San Pedro and it is a picturesque town. You can go star gazing in the Atacama desert with an eccentric French Astronomer, Sandboarding, plus many other things. There are some nice restaurants too.
From San Pedro you can then make your way to Arequipa, my favourite city in South America.
Enjoy!
Reply to this Wanderly Wagon and others,
How does one go from San Pedro to Arequipa? Is it better to go from Northern Bolivia up the Amazon to Arequipa (that seems to increase the maximum amount of days to stay in the amazon). Thanks!
Reply to this I was saying it was a good idea to go to Arequipa from San Pedro if Bolivia had already been traveled.
From San pedro you could make you way to Tacna (i think) and then across into Peru and on to Arequipa.
