I was born in the United Kingdom in 1960 and adopted by American citizens and brought to the U.S. three years later. I would like to travel to U.K. with a British passport. Am I eligible to obtain one? I have acquired my British birth certificate and intend to send it to the British Embassy in Washington D.C. along with American Birth Certificate which additionally reflects my British birth. If I am eligible for British passport, what other information must I provide? Reply to this

Hello Dan 😊

Am I eligible to obtain one?

I think there is a good chance you might be eligible. Many European Union countries seem to be allowing even people who have European ancesters a number of generations back to have European passports. I would call a British consulate near you and ask what information you need to provide. There may even be a list on their websites.

Let us know how it goes, if you have time. You likely wont be the last to ask this question. 😊
