If your going for cheap and cheerful accomodation i recommend staying at "Travel Hotel" on Bruurstrat (sp?).
It is basicaly straight out the station down the main road towards dam square, take a left just before mcdonalds.

I have stayed there on 3 occasions and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff are nice, the rooms are simple but clean and there is a 24 hour bar to top it off 😉

The cannabis museam etc are ok, slightly over-priced for what you see, but it can eb an interesting afternoon.

I'd say go on the canals, have a look around the red light district (it is very surreal), check out ann franks house, maybe have a look in some of the museums etc available. I'd also recommend having a smoke while you're there. Even if you don't normaly it is well worth it in the dam!

I havn't ventured out much further than around the centre of Amsterdam (other than a couple of walks to explore) so couldn't help you out with the res of the netherlands!

Hope this helps. Reply to this

Hi Krystal!

I went to Amsterdam last year and had an awesome time!
Beside all the clubs, bars and restaurants i wanted to see some museums and stuff.
If you're interested in doing this sort of things i suggest to buy a Holland Pass!
It saves you alot of money and it's easy to use.

You should really make good use of the liberal party scene in Amsterdam. If youre over the legal age, I would highly recommend the nightlife and entertainment in Amsterdam. Although some people misunderstood that the Red Light District is the ONLY nightlife activity in Amsterdam, generally, locals will just go to hip bars and clubs to dance their night away. Coffee shops in Amsterdam are one of the best in Europe, you should really check those out as well.

For the view: boat tour - great to see the canals and the city from another perspective
Museum: Anne frank house (the risjkmuseum is under construction)
Park: Vondelpark - they are doing some special all you can eat and drink afternoon party , check it out
Tour: mikes bike tours
To wonder arround: red light distric
church: the church in the red light is amazing

need to: go out, one of the rare city where there is almost more people at night outside then during the day

why not: smoke, its legal
