Reply to this I want to suggest two websites I think independent travellers will find useful to find hotels in two countries of Central America:
Hotels in Costa Rica - Directory of hotels in Costa Rica.
Hotels in Guatemala - Directory of hotels in Guatemala.
I think these directories are useful because they include all the contact information of the hotels (including their websites), which makes them a good starting point to research those lodging options (in contrast to normal hotel sites who's only purpose is that you make reservations through them).
Reply to this http://www.bahamasfinder.com - A pretty good site if you're traveling to the Bahamas. Lot's of good information is provided.
