Ay suggestions for a route from Chengdu to Kunming

Looking for an alternative route to Yunnan that goes not through the mountains.

Hi, does anybody have suggestions for a route from Sichuan to Yunnan other than over Kangding, Litang, Shangri-La, etc.? I am currently in Litang but I got real problems because of the altitude. So I will go back to Kangding tomorrow and after that to Chengdu (or Leshan) if there is a bus. Any idea except for the direct train to Kunming? Reply to this

Hi there, you could take a flight from Chengdu to Kunming.
There are more than 10 flights from Chengdu to Kuming and almost every 2 hours a plan will fly to Kunming from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. It really convinient because it just takes you 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish the journey. Fortunate enough, you can get cheap air tickets for just RMB 210 ($ 30), but the normal price is around RMB 700($ 100). Usually, you can get discount tickets with 30%-70% off.
Hope this may be helpful to you. Reply to this

Thanks, but I was looking for places to see and not just for the fastest and cheapest way to get there. Reply to this

Hi, a city I really like is Guiyang and it is about midway between Chengdu and Kunming. The city is very nice, has some lovely parks, there is good food around and as it is not a tourist destination people are interested in you (not your wallet). The scenery around is just stunning, there are many minority villages one can visit and there is the big waterfall Huangguoshu which makes a great excursion (can be done in a day from Guiyang or you could probably go it on the way to Kunming though I haven't done it that way). I believe you can take an overnight train from Chengdu and another overnight from Guiyang to Kunming but don't know the details.
This part of China is sooo beautiful. Have a good trip. Reply to this
