Going on a 6 month backpack trip through Asia, and wondering if its worth the extra weight to bring a tent? Thoughts/comments?
Thanks!

Reply to this In Asia no, anywhere else in the world yes. Cheap hotels in Asia are everywhere in Cambodia the hotels can be free sometimes if you eat meals at the place in Sihanoukville, to give you an idea of how cheap they can be.
In Bangkok On Khao San Rd down towards the river they are allways on sale snd light weight sleping bags as well.
Reply to this Hello Paul 😊
I wouldn't bother with a tent for Asia. Often the accomodation is inexpensive and readily available.
I would only take a tent, if I was sure I was going to use it as my main accomodation.

Reply to this And, camping can cost as much as staying at a hostel in some places.
Reply to this Ive only been in europe for about a month, and i havent use my tent once, im actually sending it home. most legal campgrounds are actually just parking lots, and when you camp like i do(in the actual trees next to the campgrounds) a hammock and tarp is the best alternative. its lightweight, compact, and fits almost everywhere. im not sure what asia is like however because ive never been...yet.
Reply to this I like to stay in a tent, but wheter I take it - it depends on where I'm going. For example, in eastern Europe there are countries you wouldn't like to take a tent to.😊 Even at campsites it's sometimes dangerous. Not because you can meet a bear (although I had the pleasure once😊), but because the locals can, uhm, well, hurt you.😊 But don't get me wrong,
eastern Europe is a great place with great people. Just some of them aren't that friendly. Reply to this
