Nominate bloggers who have never had a blog on the Front Page and have fewer than 5 recommends.
Thanks Merry Jo! That is really useful.
I nominate deleted_183365
He was bumped off the Featured section of the Front Page after the last requirements review. But, he certainly deserves an award, because his blogs would be of interest to anyone considering a major round the world trip, and wants to know what it is like. He describes day to day life on the road in detail.
I met this blogger offline, at one stage of his trip. He was in Kuala Lumpur at the same time as I was last September.
I can't believe that Tom Rooney
doesn't have more recognition. He has been everywhere, writing interesting blogs along the way. He is currently in the Balkans, although why anyone would want to go there in the winter is beyond my comprehension. But nevertheless he finds the hotspots and makes recommendations as to where to stay, eat, and be entertained. But with 8 recommends we either need to bend the rules to make him Blogger of the Week or nominate him for the Hall of Fame.

Wow! This is a real labor of love! I will work my way down the list and see where I can add my nominations...not sure what my criteria will be other than good writing and good pictures.

Starting from the bottom (or oldest) up, the first one that I wish to second because they are still blogging, and for the last year have been sailing around the Caribbean so makes for very interesting reading and pictures, is s v Tsamaya

Continuing up the list, I found a French girl who has spent the last few years in England, but now has embarked on an extended trip starting with Southeast Asia. She has a delightful way of writing, but I wonder if she knows that translation isn't absolutely necessary as Google does this. Anyway I appreciate her kindness in writing in both her langauges. So I am pleased to second the nomination of melintheworld
Tommy Rooney is another good candidate for the Hall of Fame. He currently has 9 recommends.😊
I agree with you that Tommy Rooney is a quality blogger. We have been on his fan wagon for sometime. It is hard to figure out what how some bloggers get many recommendations and others do not.
He has published many blogs this year that we enjoyed but one of our favorites was
Welcome to the Horn of Africa
Mel, as for Mild Discomfort you are right that he is a good blogger and one of the ones who fell off the front page when the criteria changed. One thought that comes to mind is that he was on the front page for awhile and didn't gather more recommendations so maybe others don't like him as much as we do or truly the more likely is that many travel bloggers don't recommend the bloggers they like to read. We've discussed how to cure that but have not found any real solution to encourage others to recommend bloggers.
Would it be hard to make a list of all the bloggers who were on the front page and fell off? It might allow other bloggers to take a look and decide if they would like to provide them with a recommendation to get them back on the front page.
Just a thought.
Bob-- labor of love-- maybe or not.
I love to assist unfound bloggers in getting some recognition and helping them get to the front page. There are always many more recommendations than those who achieve the award. Plus many quality seasoned bloggers have gone unseen for years as demonstrated by the thread I started on seasoned bloggers. Enjoy reading.
...his fan wagon...
HaHa! I love that expression. Mutual friends and recommends should be called that. 😊
...maybe others don't like him as much as we do...
Or maybe they like us too much, and that is why they recommend us a lot instead. 😉
I dont know why people are not always generous with recommending, but I dont think we should base too much on how many recommends a blogger has. Just becasue they dont blog to the tastes of the mainstread doesnt mean they dont appeal to others. As well as that, the most likley reason a Front Page blogger does not get lots of recommends is if (s)he is very quiet and does not talk on the forums, comment on the blogs of other... They go below the radar, with all the more chatty types about.
Would it be hard to make a list of all the bloggers who were on the front page and fell off?
There would need to be a database search done, for that, and I am not so sure Ali has time for it. 😊
Id like to nominate The Great China Roadtrip
and the fantastic road trip accross China. That would be an amazing challange.

Not sure about seconding someone who hasn't started blogging their trip yet, but do appreciate bringing attention to what could be a very interesting trip. I even thought of volunteering, but can think of so many better TB photographers. I nominate Dancing Dave to be the photographer if he finishes his trip to Indonesia in time. I will subscribeto his blog and in time recommend and second this nomination if it truns out to be as good as I think it will be.

Hi Bob and Linda,
I've recently started following Tommy Rooney and agree, there's some fantastic blog entries there.
He'll get recognition I'm sure - you'll probably find him listed when Hall of Fame nominations open in a couple of months.
I nominate Willers1980
I am enjoying his sabatical too, via his blogs.
I nominate Donny
, a long time and good blogger.
Having just skimmed through all his blogs, I remember reading some of them starting several years ago when researching teaching English as a second language. So it was nice to have them brought to my attention again. I subscribed, and rather than waiting to read more of his blogs, I also Recommended him. So I am pleased to be able to third his nomination as Blogger of the week.
I second the nomination of paavo33
. I have skimmed his blogs, intending to go back soon to read them all, and he has blogged about many interesting places, and his pictures are good too. However, he hasn't blogged since June 2011, so I have commented on his latest blog to that effect (and suggested that he edit the dates so that the trips are in chronological order. Hopefully, we will see more of him soon.
I would like to nominate the Gardiners who are currently traveling for blogger of the week. elJardineros

I nominate JenGog
for Blogger of the Week. They have traveled extensively around Europe and write well, and thier pictures are good too. They are about to buy a mobile home so maybe we will have another Grey haired nomads
I will get back to seconding nominations soon. I at least have to skim all their blogs to see if I like their body of work and get a sense of who they are (I take this TB family thing seriously!), and that takes time.
