I'm going to do a little experiment with my next blog today, to see whether an unusual title and a really touristy location will put me into the "200 Club".

What is your blog about anyway, Jon? If it is something that we could create a good forum discussion about it would help get it to the 200 mark.

I think, as well as being a good blogger and talented photo taker, one of the things that gets Nicks blogs so many hits, is that he writes about the types of subjects that get a lot of attention. Reply to this

This one will be about London, which people are much more interested in than Ukraine. No need for a discussion, as I'm not going to do anything to artifically increase the attention to my blog. I'm just curious about the role a location plays in how many hits a blog gets.

Well, if the topic is interesting, then it is not really artifically increasing your hits. Even professional writers need the media to promote and get attention to their work. Reply to this

If I was trying to get published I'd probably try to advertise the blog a bit more, but in this instance it's just curiosity!

I'm going to be watching the number of hits closely, not out of ego, but because I think my British blogs get more attention than the Ukrainian ones. Don't click on it five times to cheer me up, I'm just working on a theory!

I had a couple of blogs on the front page and had wondered how they got up there. I thought perhaps they just automatically went up and then got moved down as others post. It's nice to know it's a bit more special than that! Thanks! Reply to this

It is indeed special Stacey. 😊
You are very popular. Some people have been members for years, without managing to get a blog on the Front Page. Congratulations! Reply to this

I didnt get to see your blog on the Front Page at all. 😞 I have been in Dublin for the last few days, and didnt look at the internet at all.

I've always found it interesting how some of my blogs, months after I posted them, still get 80 hits a month even though they never made it to the front page and I am only recommended by my handful of friends that are also travelbloggers. Any guesses why this happens?

One blog of mine, where we accidentally came upon a "modern dance performance" in Uruguay is about a month from getting its 2,000 hit. While the story in it was unusual, backpackers (or perhaps it's just me) come across ridiculous stories like this all the time while traveling. Additionally, the sense of humor used in writing it didn't change. I figure there might just be some odd people googling "Naked Jumping Jacks" and coming across my blog to much disappointment.

I've just always found it interesting that some of my blogs, which may be better written or have better photos don't get many hits while others are viewed by random people months after I posted them. Reply to this

There arent so many blogs about Uruguay, so there is a good chance of yours being hit, everytime somebody wants to read about Uruguay. And nice photos, such as the ones you have in your blog also would encourage people to open it. 😊

This is likely a good guess. If your blog comes up when 'naked' is googled, then those looking for porn might stumble on it. I have been told that sex is one of the most common subjects searches are done about.

It would be great to have a way to see the most popular entries on travelblog, ie sort all entries by number of views... Reply to this

bernard brothers, I always wondered the same thing, some of my worst blogs get the most hits, I think I just included the right tag word somewhere and people accidently stumble upon the page, who knows Reply to this
