Hello Anuj 😊

When I was in Egypt, I found that travelling there in itself is inexpensive, but visiting tourist attractions if very expensive. But that was 10 years ago. I dont know how much as changed since.

That flight you found seems like a good bargain if it is return and includes taxes. Congratultations on that find! Reply to this

SE asia is a place where this budget will go a long way. 10 US to 15 US per day is often enough for a backpackers trip. Of course you could spend more, but I often didnt in SE Asia and had a good time. You could probably get a very cheap flight from Mumbai go Bangkok. The cheapest flights from Europe to Bangkok are in May, so maybe same with the ones from Mumbai.

Visas are another thing to consider. How easily can you get the various ones and how much do they cost. Visa hassles are often the decider for me, when all else is equal.

I am getting a return ticket from Bombay to Bangkok for 15000 INR..thts roughly around 312 USD...cheap enough..and this is for March to April return...
I plan to land in Bangkok...see some of the thailand...like Pattaya..Phuket..Bangkok..and one more of any tourist attraction..then as i heard that there is a rail and road network between thailand singapore and malaysia...so i wouldnt mind taking the cheap travel options..since being brought up in india...i am accustomed to any such travel option...
From thailand i plan to travel to malaysia..and see some natural beauty over there...and not just get stuck with luxury tourist places...
then head for singapore - am very keen for famous singapore night safari...
this whole stretch i expect to finish in 20 days or so...on rail and road...
and then travel by water to indonesia...and see the island country...especially the inner tribal country and of course java, sumatra, komodo, and bali...
and if budget permits...i would like to head for papua new guinea....
the problem is that i am getting the cheapest return ticket from bangkok only...so does it make sense to travel to and fro from thailand to indonesia and be back...
may sound like adam in wonderland story..but i really wanna make it 😊
enlighten please 😊 Reply to this

That flight for 312 actually seems quite expensive. But, maybe I just dont know the prices. Hopefully somebody else who has flown that route will post here what they payed.

...so does it make sense to travel to and fro from thailand to indonesia and be back...

It is quite a long way, and you only have 20 days...... There is plenty to stop and look at along the way, so no need to go as far as Indonesia for an experience, in my opinion.

35 days sounds great. Usually I am in Thailand for 30 days at a time. I havent yet gone to the other SE Asian countries.

I have 45 days next August and September. I am flying to Bangkok then going overland to Cambodia, then down to Malaysia and maybe Singapore. Then back to Bangkok to fly back. But, I like to travel slowly and relax, so 45 days is good for this amount of travel for me. And I will have a little kid with me, so that makes travelling slowly essential because she will want to spend time on beaches. Reply to this

actually i wish to hit the beaches at pattaya and bali...but having travelled to GOA almost 6 times...and relaxed there for weeks...the beach factor in me gets over within four days hahahahaha.....what attracts me to these countries is the richness of culture and variety of sights you get...
previously i had thought of going overland to thailand..cambodia and vietnam..but then in cambodia all you see is the temples of angkor vat..and in india..i am tired of seeing temples 😊
since thailand...malaysia singapore give more variety of experience...pluss...as far as i heard there are straight overland connections between these three countries..hence i expect this trip to be hassle free...
i plan to do this travel after jan feb...depending on the budget 😊...but before august next year as i plan to join any foreign graduate school...
i am just unsure about indonesia...because everyone told me about the uncertainty and lack of infrastructure over there..
the only thing that comes knocking straight is --- BUDGET....how much one should carry for a neat trip...
(1) Egypt - 10 days
(2) Thai-malaysia-singapore-indonesia - 45 days...
